Kayla Comes Home!

We finally got her after a year of waiting! But boy, what a long day...

With barely any sleep due to anticipation (about an hour's worth), we started our 4 hour drive down to Woodlake to pick up our little furball of joy. The dogs were stunning! I swear, the pictures don't do them justice, even though they look pretty & cute enough in them already. While we were talking, Kayla did the cutest little howl! She's super shy, but super cuddly.

After we picked her up, we headed down to Arcadia to visit some relatives; a 3 hour drive. Poor Kayla. We stopped at a gas station and I brought her down to a little patch of grass to potty, but all of a sudden a police siren turned on and scared the crap out of her, literally! I felt so bad for her, I cleaned her up and brought her back in the car. She wouldn't eat or drink during the whole trip down. It wasn't till we arrived at my grandparent's place that my grandma did her little dog whisperer magic and got her to relax, open up and consume some food. Before that, she had her head buried behind some bags that were on the sofa.

To make a long story short, we started heading back up to Davis around 8:30, only to arrive at 3 o'clock in the morning. Kayla did surprisingly well and completely knocked out for most of the trip up. What amazed me more was that she ate all of her food we gave her after we got home, and even played with us a bit (tennis ball) before going into her crate without any complaints. It was almost as if she was already crate trained. She slept through the night without a single whine, though she wouldn't go potty when we took her out several times in the night.

I guess she was that pooped.
