It's been a while!

Hi again. Sorry for the looong gap since the last post! Kayla's grown up quite a bit! She's a teenager now and starting to rebel, but we're still keeping her in check. She's also gotten new boots! At first, she walked pretty funny, but now she loves em! Her paws were always muddy when we come back from the dog park, so these keep her paws, and our floors clean.

Affection

Sorry for not posting for such a long time. I got both lazy and busy at the same time... however that works. haha. Anyways, Kayla's becoming such a sweetheart! She follows me around and loves belly rubs now. She used to struggle when held upside down, but not anymore! Oh, and we also got her a harness so she doesn't hurt her neck when she pulls. We're still trying to work with leash walking. She kinda listens sometimes but when she finds something interesting, she just has to go! So we started bribing her with treats, which kinda works =) She's a husky all right!

Kayla's getting the hang of potty training. She now sits at the door and waits for you to open it. We're getting pretty good at reading her signs: when she's thirsty, hungry, needs to go potty etc. Milo and Kayla are getting along better. Milo's starting to play a little bit too. Well, that's all for now. I'll try to upload more pics of her and some vids. I've started on my client's website, and been converting boxes and boxes of old photos into digital images, so I'm kinda sick of taking pictures and uploading them onto my computer. But I promise, I WILL post them up soon!

Trouble-Maker!

Kayla's becoming a huuuuge trouble-maker! ahhhh!!! Aparantly, her outstanding behavior was her being shy. Now that she has opened up, she's bouncing off walls~! She'll only do her tricks for yummy treats...>=(

Kayla's First Bath!

She's so tiny without the fluff!

Not a happy camper...

She was scared of the running water, but was ok with the shampooing. Anyways, here's a clip:

Kayla's First Youtube Videos!

Kayla being pampered and lazy =)

Kayla loves the camcorder!

Kayla's first training video!

Kayla is doing much much much better than the first few days. She's chasing us around the house, prancing around trying to play and starting her training. She learned how to sit within a few minutes, and it currently working on down and paw. She loves lifting her paw (which is why we decided to exploit her natural behavior) and does this cute little march when she's being playful. She's still excellent in her crate and never whines unless she needs to get out to go potty. Even though she's had a few accidents, she's doing extremely well for a 7 week old puppy who has just entered a new environment for less than a week!

"I love my bed"

Kayla's first day at home went way better than I had expected it to. She took to her crate immediately and does not whine at all whenever she is in there anytime of the day. She is much more playful with us and sometimes follows us around. We tried leash walking today too, and she did a remarkable job. There was a little resistance here and there, but once you call her and make kissing noises, she comes.

Kayla Comes Home!

We finally got her after a year of waiting! But boy, what a long day...

With barely any sleep due to anticipation (about an hour's worth), we started our 4 hour drive down to Woodlake to pick up our little furball of joy. The dogs were stunning! I swear, the pictures don't do them justice, even though they look pretty & cute enough in them already. While we were talking, Kayla did the cutest little howl! She's super shy, but super cuddly.

After we picked her up, we headed down to Arcadia to visit some relatives; a 3 hour drive. Poor Kayla. We stopped at a gas station and I brought her down to a little patch of grass to potty, but all of a sudden a police siren turned on and scared the crap out of her, literally! I felt so bad for her, I cleaned her up and brought her back in the car. She wouldn't eat or drink during the whole trip down. It wasn't till we arrived at my grandparent's place that my grandma did her little dog whisperer magic and got her to relax, open up and consume some food. Before that, she had her head buried behind some bags that were on the sofa.

To make a long story short, we started heading back up to Davis around 8:30, only to arrive at 3 o'clock in the morning. Kayla did surprisingly well and completely knocked out for most of the trip up. What amazed me more was that she ate all of her food we gave her after we got home, and even played with us a bit (tennis ball) before going into her crate without any complaints. It was almost as if she was already crate trained. She slept through the night without a single whine, though she wouldn't go potty when we took her out several times in the night.

I guess she was that pooped.
